Why do I bother taking photos of people parking in disabled bays without permits?

They are breaking the law.

Simple question, simple answer………. They are breaking the law and in the process making my life along with countless others, more painful, tiring and leaving us wanting to retreat from life.

Today I was asked the question, am I disabled? My answer,  I'm broken, I can’t walk properly and sometimes my legs don’t always work properly, so I trip and stumble when I get tired.

Why? Because of several accidents that were not of my doing have resulted in much soft tissue damage throughout my body, a permanently broken fibula in my right leg, bad arthritis in left leg, caused because of the strain it takes and recently discovered broken ribs that have healed in such a way that cause me immense pain sometimes.

You can read about some of the incidents here if you can be bothered:-

So todays photos…………..

300m walk of hell............ (again)

Woe is me, Pity for me.............. I need to be carried......

FFS that's NOT what I want........ I just can't walk 300m somedays without a great deal of pain and the reason I have to walk 300m......... is because people like this............................

Park where they shouldn't............................................
(Photo taken at Whittlesea, at playground in Church St at 12pm on Saturday 30th March 2013)

and the people at the newsagency wouldn't be asking if I was okay and why were my hands shaking. I don't like relying on other people, it's not fair on them, they too have lives to live and don't need me as a millstone around their neck. But how can I be self-reliant and a contributing member to society if I am in more pain than normal because of people like this?

I had already driven around the block two times, to try and locate a closer parking spot, but it was Easter Saturday, you would think people had been starving since Thursday the way they were acting :(

What can be done?

I know Alica and her website and the media attention she is getting is helping, but is it enough?

No Permit No Park - Website

Here are some previous experiences I have experienced personally, including video footage in one instance :(

Laziness is not a disability........... Post infinity

I have been running my own little personal crusade for years, but someone has taken it to a whole new level!

That someone is Alica Wright of Queensland.......... her website is No Permit No Park

I highly commend her efforts and blimey it's an effort well and truly overdue, for those in wheelchairs, for those 'not quite right' people on their feet, for those that need that parking permits, to do the shopping or even get their hair cut. Simple things for the able-bodied person, but tiring and painful for many people who require permits.

Here is today contribution from me:-

6.44pm Thursday, 28th March 2013, at North Epping, Woolworths.

The driver has clearly parked here, knowing this space is set aside for people with mobility issues, (unless he is blind) the front view clearly shows no permit...............

I will keep trying, I will keep posting - but how do you get through to these people? Predominantly young males

Here are previous offenders, mostly taken in the northern suburbs of Melbourne

I am over it

All I wanted was some cat food, so my cat had something to eat tonight, instead I end up shaking with pain and thinking why the hell did I even try to be 'normal'

I was forced to walk a further 160 steps (big deal you say) because 'someone' who represents Australia Post decided to park in a permit zone.

Big deal you say - 160 steps? Anyone can do that - well guess what - on a bad day I can't.

I was FORCED to walk UP and DOWN a gutter to get to the front door, on the footpath, if that had been someone in a wheelchair - they would have had to brave traffic in a car park and below the eyesight of a driver to access a ramp that allows THEM to access the footpath. Accident imminent.

I am shaking with pain, which means more painkillers, which means that I stress my kidney and liver out because of someone selfish idiot, who would only be there for 5 minutes.

See what ONLY 5 MINUTES CAN DO?

Please consider those of us in society, who try to be productive, who try to be self-reliant, those of us who have no-one else to help us.

STOP PARKING IN PERMIT ZONES, UNLESS YOU HAVE a VALID permit.

And YES I did check the vehicle dashboard and NO there was no permit - I didn't take the dashboard photo, although I should have.

I hope Australia Post take some action, but unlikely unless I complain directly and then I will be forced to jump through hoops to make a complaint.

Is this the image @austpost wants to convey? Epping north woo... on Twitpic

A thought did cross  my mind that this vehicle may have been onsold, but either or it carries the Australia Post logo and colours and ultimately conveys a very poor message

Same place, taken on the 9th march 2013, about the same time
(I even spoke to the driver, he didn't move)

Even though i spoke to you, you didnt move #StupidityIsNotADi... on Twitpic

Other such incidents - dating back to March 2012 and prior - The one in March 2012 made me realise how many people thinks it'okay' to park wherever they feel like it - as long as THEY are not inconvenienced :(

No Telephones again Telstra, 22nd March 2013

Once again Telstra have excelled at the (non) excellence of providing a service I pay them to do………….

Thankfully I PAY (from my own pocket) for a secondary line into my premises, but no compensation for me to do that is there? Yet it's their cruddy service that forces me to do so.

My husband is currently using a chainsaw, ALONE…… Imagine if he had an accident? We don’t have very good mobile phone coverage up - so who do I call? (IF I can call)

See my problem?

Telstra - enough is enough - the TIO will be hearing from me on Monday…….

Your lose, your problem, you had better just hope no-one I know and care about suffers any sort of accident/illness/injury and I can't get help - because GOD HELP YOU - I WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR IT THEN

Tonights text message

A reminder from Telstra: Our commitment to repair 0397** **** is by 26/03/2013 19:00.

Reckon it will happen OR will I get ANOTHER text message, advising of a further delay like last time?

See other incidents here

Telstra - the most recent incident was 27th February 2013

Phone services restored on the 26th March 2013.................. Until Next Time

Laziness is Not A Disability

I’m not brave, I’m not particularly outspoken, although some people will disagree. I avoid confrontation like the plague. I dislike people doing the wrong thing, either legally or morally.
After an accident involving a 12t truck and my car some 15yrs prior.  Followed by a horse collapsing on me and permanently breaking the fibula in my right leg. I have difficulties getting around. Especially when it comes to shopping centres and their slippery floors. I still manage to work most of the time, so you can’t call me lazy. I just have problems walking most of the time, let alone staying up right.

I can’t lock myself up forever and I can’t rely on my husband to do everything, so I venture out. More often than not, it seems that people think it’s okay to park in handicapped spots, that it’s okay to only stop for 1-2 minutes. They couldn’t care less. They really couldn’t.

Here is one encounter, after 3 days of not being able to park in these two spots, because there is ALWAYS been someone parked there ILLEGALLY. NO PERMIT.

I’m over it – why must I and countless others suffer because of selfish irresponsible people like this?

So this is what happened. Registration of said vehicle is (VIC) YJQ-548

**Please note the reference to 'registration' is actually parking permit and its non-presence on said vehicle.

This 'gentleman' was aware he was being videoed, yet made no apologies, nor did he offer to move, In fact 10 minutes later, was still in exactly the place, with his girlfriend sitting beside him, almost in defiance.

Fence at Dusk, near Whittlesea, may not seem like anything special, but at the time of taking I liked it! Photo taken in the 10th December 2012

Kangaroo, mid-flight - I promise you this photo as NOT been photoshopped, nor altered IN ANY WAY. She has been caught mid-air against a dropping sun. Sheer perfection, if I must say so. Photo taken near Whittlesea on the 11th December 2012. This photo was taken with a tamron 200mm lens, I hope to recreate with the Sigma 500mm lens on the Nikon D3000. Fingers crossed. Maybe this was a once in a lifetime shot?

This big boy, not long after this shot was taken, leapt over the fence you can see in the background, treated it, like you and I treat a step! Photo taken near Whittlesea on the 31st December 2012
